Delay in Japan will not harm global 3G launchdate: April 24, 2001 Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, said on Tuesday NTT Docomo's decision to delay the commercial launch of the world's first third-generation (3G) network in Japan would not affect the global launch of 3G. "We don't see any change in the 3G schedule on a global scale," Nokia's chief spokesman Lauri Kivinen told the press. "This seems to be affecting the initial launch phase in Japan and not the mainstream launch of WCDMA on a global scale which is expected to occur next year."
