Ericsson chosen by Libertel-Vodafone as sole supplier for UMTS network in the Netherlands

Ericsson has been selected by Libertel-Vodafone as sole supplier for a UMTS network in the Netherlands. The contract is valued at approximately USD 45 million.

The 3G contract includes hardware, software and services for the roll out of the UMTS network. Libertel-Vodafone will begin offering 3G services to its customers commercially by the end of 2002.

"Ericsson is gratified to be chosen to deliver Libertel-Vodafone's complete third-generation network," stated Jef Keustermans, President Ericsson Netherlands. "We will bring to bear our world-leading expertise combined with our strong local presence in the Netherlands to together with Libertel-Vodafone rapidly bring the best in mobile Internet services to their customers."

Ericsson has to date been named as a supplier in 27 publicly announced WCDMA commercial agreements, more than any other vendor.
