Nokia and Tellabs to develop solutions for 3GNokia and Tellabs signed an agreement today to develop products that will help telecom operators to migrate their networks to 3G. Nokia and Tellabs are going to develop an integrated transmission solution for 3G wirless network for Nokia. Tellabs is expanding MartisDXX network control system to control 3G transmission equipment and provide 3G asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) radio access transmission network for end-to-end management. Heikki Hiltunen, the vice president of Tellabs said "Tellabs' expanded relationship with Nokia will provide mobile operators a platform to easily monitor their networks and quickly deliver new services. Tellabs is a leading provider of mobile transmission, and Nokia is a leading provider of mobile infrastructure. By working together, we can develop an aligned solution that better serves our customers and gives them a clear competitive advantage." Tellabs is building a new R&D center in Duesseldorf (Germany) to help quickly meet customer demand for 3G solutions. The development of 3G base-station with integrated ATM cell switch should benefits to operators migrating to 3G networks.
