Alcatel to launch 3G Centre in Kuala Lumpurdate: April 10, 2002 Alcatel will be launching a 3G Reality Centre in Kuala Lumpur in the second half of the year while it seeks Malaysian partners to develop middleware for its 3G mobile phones. The centre would be the headquarters for South East Asia, said Alcatel Asia Pacific’s director of business development (mobile unit), John Lipp, at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Lipp gave no details on the investment amount or the size of the centre, other than that the centre in Kuala Lumpur would involve a major investment of “millions of euros.” He said the 3G centre would build a bridge between content community and mobile operators.
