Hutchison 3G awards service activation software contract to Tertiodate: April 16, 2002 Hutchison 3G UK today announced that UK telecom software company Tertio has been awarded the contract to provide service activation software for Hutchison 3G's rollout. Tertio's Provident software will initially be deployed in Italy and the UK and later made available in other countries where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests. Provident is a real-time service activation product that automates the provisioning of convergent services. This contract covers the Provident software license and Tertio's professional services for customisation, installation, testing, support and training. Colin Tucker, managing director of Hutchison 3G, said: "It's essential for Hutchison 3G to choose a high-performance system that can cope with the demands of convergent service activation: After all, what we are doing is completely new. After evaluating all the alternatives we concluded that Tertio's Provident is the best to support our global 3G services." Nigel Clifford, CEO of Tertio, said: "Provident already has a proven track record in the mobile sector and is consistently highly rated for its flexibility and scalability. Hutchison 3G's choice of Provident is further endorsement of Tertio's leadership in mobile service provisioning."
