KT ICOM Of Korea Selects Comverse's Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC)date: April 17, 2002 Comverse, the supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, announced that KT ICOM of South Korea, Korea Telecom's 3G mobile group, has selected Comverse's Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) for deployment on its new UMTS network. A demonstration of KT ICOM's MMS applications will take place at the World Cup Football Tournament to be held in South Korea and Japan from May 31 to June 30, 2002. MMS-enabled handsets will be made available by KT ICOM for the duration of the event in order to let participants at the World Cup enjoy the ultimate experience of composing, sending and receiving multimedia messages. KT ICOM plans the large-scale launch of its MMS offering in early 2003. Simon Buckingham, CEO of Mobile Streams, said, "By deploying MMS during the World Cup, Comverse and KT ICOM will demonstrate the importance that compelling content plays in increasing usage and revenue." MMS delivers pictures, video, audio to 3G handsets, creating a new communications environment combining telephony and television-like capabilities. MMS showcases the capabilities of 3G content applications supplied by service providers. The World Cup is an ideal setting to highlight the new MMS capabilities. "Comverse's MMSC will for the first time in Korea enable wireless users to enjoy multimedia messaging during World Cup 2002," said Dr. Cho Young-Chu, President and CEO of KT ICOM. "We are pleased that KT ICOM has chosen to kickoff its MMS offering during the World Cup, one of the world's most important and popular sporting events," said Zeev Bregman, Chief Executive Officer of Comverse.
