Vodafone on route to Dutch rolloutdate: April 22, 2002 Vodafone's Dutch subsidiary, Vodafone Libertel, has started constructing its 3G network, hoping for a service rollout by early next year. The planned deadline would make Vodafone Libertel the first operator in the country to offer 3G services. The company began construction last month with the first installations in Amsterdam. The cities of Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht are expected to be the next in line. The company plans national coverage by 2007, in line with the terms of its license. It is believed by 3G Bulletin that this announcement has been made so hotly on the heels of i-mode in the Netherlands that it is Vodafone's next move against DoCoMo's competition.
