DoCoMo cuts price of voice callsdate: April 24, 2002 DoCoMo has said that it is cutting the cost of 3G FOMA calls to some wireless services by up to 31 per cent from the start of June. The move is seen as an attempt to increase the take up rates of the FOMA service. The cut in fees apply to calls made to its "mopera" internet, voice mail messaging, voice and data-type connection and information service. The move came after KDDI said they expect to sell 280,000 cdma2000 1x enabled handsets by the end of this month. If the company did manage to meet this target in its first month of service it would exceed the number of 3G subscribers that DoCoMo has and a big challenge to DoCoMo's 3G domination in Japan. Currently, KDDI's 1x monthly subscription plan is 20% cheaper than DoCoMo's FOMA charge plan.
