UbiNetics Signs Two Multi-Million Dollar Deals With US Semiconductor Companiesdate: April 30, 2002 UbiNetics has announced it is licensing its 3G protocol software products to two Californian semiconductor companies. The deals further reinforce UbiNetics' expertise in the global 3G market. Both semiconductor manufacturers, who cannot be named for confidentiality reasons, will use UbiNetics' highly interoperable protocol software in their latest multi-mode W-CDMA/GPRS/GSM chipsets. Ultimately, the combined technology will speed up the development of 3G-enabled mobile phones. UbiNetics' technology also allows companies to iron-out any technical glitches that may occur before next generation services are rolled out. The complete solution can be integrated and demonstrated early on in the development cycle. Using its test product range, UbiNetics can prove its protocol software at an early stage. This ensures interoperability, which decreases risk and accelerates the roll-out of 3G services. "The recent success of our protocol software with semiconductor manufacturers shows things are improving in this area of the industry," said Björn Krylander, CEO at UbiNetics. "Key players that deferred next generation developments during the recent downturn are now reviving their 3G plans," he added.
