Lucent to Incorporate Netonomy's 3G High-Speed Data Portfolio
April 8, 2003
Netonomy, a provider of customer self-service solutions for communications
service providers, announced that its customer self-service application,
MyNetonomy, will be incorporated into Lucent Technologies' 3G high-speed
data portfolio for mobile operators. Lucent will optimize Netonomy's application
to work with its 3G mobile network solutions, enabling Lucent's mobility
customers to help enterprises more easily deploy 3G data services.
MyNetonomy provides a wide range of self-provisioning and online enterprise
account management capabilities that give business administrators and
employees a simple, user friendly means of activating and managing their
corporate and individual 3G data accounts and services. This can help
mobile operators reduce operational expenses associated with calls to
a customer service center and improve customer service by giving enterprises
and their end-users greater control over their accounts.
"We believe that enterprises will be the early adopters of 3G high-speed
data services offered by mobile operators, and our best-of-breed self-service
provisioning and enterprise account management application will make it
easier for companies to deploy these services," commented John Hughes,
cofounder and executive vice president of Netonomy. "Lucent has taken
an innovative approach by providing an end-to-end solution to mobile operators
that enables them to address the demand among enterprises for 3G mobile
high-speed data services and we are excited to be a key part of their
visionary strategy."
MyNetonomy will be incorporated into Lucent's 3G mobile high-speed data
portfolio of end-to-end, pre-integrated solutions that enable business
customers to access essential applications stored behind corporate firewalls
via CDMA2000 and UMTS 3G wireless networks, as well as corporate wireless
local area networks and public "hot spots."
"The research we've conducted with enterprises worldwide has revealed
that a fast, intuitive activation process is a major requirement for the
uptake of 3G high-speed data services among enterprise mobile professionals,
and Netonomy's product helps 3G mobile operators deliver this functionality,"
said Jeff Cortley, director of offer management for Lucent's Mobility
Solutions Group.
