Which 3G communications standard will China choose from TD-SCDA, CDMA2000 and WCDMA? ZTE, a telecommunications equipment vendor of China and the largest, expects that all telecom carriers will build TD-SCDMA networks, meanwhile, they will not only build TD-SCDMA networks. The TD-SCDMA will have 10% of the market.

Sun Zhenge, director of products department of ZTE, expects the Chinese State Government may issue four to five 3G operation licenses. With the 3G licenses, telecom carriers can operate WCDMA, CDMA2000 AND TD-SCDMA. But telecom carriers will not develop TD-SCDMA-focus 3G businesses. So they would build WCDMA and CDMA2000 networks in the same time.

Sun Zhenge say, "Frequency is invaluable resources and we will make fully use of it. China's communications market is big enough for three 3G standards to coexist. WCDMA may take 50% to 60% of the market, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA for 30% and 10% respectively."
