Crown Castle completes site 1001 for 3 UK

April 6, 2004

Crown Castle International, a UK network infrastructure management companies, has completed its 1001st site for 3, the UK's first video mobile network.

This important milestone for Crown Castle coincides with 3's announcement at the end of 2003 that it had successfully completed the build and integration of its 5250th site. This means that 3 now has over 77% population coverage for its video mobile services in the UK, as well as over 99% voice coverage through its national roaming agreement.

The rollout of the 1001st Crown Castle site for 3 means Crown Castle has supplied approximately 20% of the sites for 3's UK video mobile network.

Peter Abery, president and managing director at Crown Castle UK, said: "This is an important achievement for Crown Castle as we have proven once again our ability to deliver the required sites for a partner. The speed of rollout for 3 is unprecedented and we are proud to have been able to support this achievement. We're pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the UK's newest mobile network."

David Cooper, CTO 3 UK, said: "3 now has over 77% population coverage for our unique video mobile services and our agreement with Crown Castle has helped in achieving this milestone. Through Crown Castle we have also ensured that we have a high proportion of shared sites in line with the industry's 10 commitments. 3 has the most advanced mobile network in the UK, built in record time and we will continue to build on this throughout 2004."
