Navtel ships 3G UMTS Discovery analysis tool
April 21, 2004
Navtel Communications, a developer and global provider of test equipment for the laboratories of network equipment manufacturers and operators is shipping the most recent release of Navtel's UMTS Discovery application with version 5.3.3 of its InterWatch. UMTS Discovery is an expert analysis tool providing call tracing, performance measurement and event logging for 3G mobile networks. UMTS Discovery organizes the complex protocol interactions of a network into easy-to-read message traces by providing graphs of user traffic and signaling rates which furnish the user with a clear picture of each call's events and performance. UMTS Discovery is particularly powerful in analyzing the very intricate Iub interface.
Hosted on Navtel's InterWatch platform, UMTS Discovery perfectly complements this powerful and versatile test system allowing users to analyze a variety of different technologies at various layers in the protocol stack. In addition to providing detailed analysis of UMTS protocols, the InterWatch offers physical and ATM layer monitoring, quality of service measurement and IMA testing. The platform's extensive Voice over IP (VoIP) performance testing and verification capabilities are ideally suited to the needs of R4 and R5 UMTS testing, making the InterWatch a complete UMTS test system.
The unrivalled ability of Navtel's InterWatch solution to perform functional, conformance, interoperability, performance and scalability testing on next generation converged networks substantially reduces a user's overall financial investment required for test equipment. Joel Orvis of Navtel believes that "UMTS Discovery simplifies the intricacies of UMTS and allows detailed analysis during times of high network load. It has been designed to ensure users dramatically reduce their time to market by pinpointing problem locations quickly and effortlessly. This speeds up the troubleshooting process and greatly improves performance metrics which are crucial to providing quality from Day One".
