PTC introduce fast wireless Internet

April 13, 2005

Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC) is launching a new service of wireless access to the Internet, as well as network and corporate applications, called blue connect. For a fixed monthly fee, it enables an easy and wireless access to the network, without a limit on the size of the data transmitted, or the duration and number of connections. A special blue connect manager application initiates the fastest possible connection speed available in the Era network in a given area. Thanks to roaming services, blue connect will be available almost anywhere in the world.

The main features of blue connect are: comfort of use, speed and simplicity. It allows unconstrained wireless access to the global Internet network, VPN, FTP folders or e-mail practically anywhere: at home, in the workplace and while travelling. Broadband access (UMTS/WLAN) will be offered in Warsaw and its environs, and in specially marked places (hotels, shopping malls, airports and McDonald's restaurants). In other parts of the country, modem speed access will be available (EDGE/GPRS). Coverage of the broadband internet is being systematically expanded, and the whole network upgraded to introduce next-generation mobile services. Large-scale six-month-long tests of the service preceded its launch. Their purpose was to ensure the highest quality and to gain customer's feedback still prior to the launch, and to gauge client satisfaction from the services offered. Business and institutional clients, as well as individual customers were involved in the test programme, a few thousand of users in total. The completed surveys confirmed high ratings of the service among the users.

"With the introduction of the blue connect service, PTC will become a significant player in the growing market for advanced broadband services, representing an innovative marketing approach and latest state-of-the-art technologies. Now everyone can easily experience how much they can "get more" with the Era network" - said Martin Schneider, a PTC Management Board Member and Director for Marketing Strategy and Sales.
