April 18, 2005
Kyocera Wireless, a global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, and Verizon Wireless announced the availability of the Kyocera KPC650 PC card for use on Verizon Wireless' high-speed 3G Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network. With the Kyocera KPC650 PC Card, Verizon Wireless customers can use BroadbandAccess, Verizon Wireless' premier data service for business customers, anywhere within the BroadbandAccess coverage area. Powered by EV-DO technology, Verizon Wireless' 3G network is the fastest, widely commercially available wide-area wireless network in the nation today.
With the Kyocera KPC650 PC Card and BroadbandAccess, Verizon Wireless customers get typical download speeds of 400 - 700 kbps and bursts up to 2 Mbps, providing them with a wireless data experience similar to using high-speed wired connections at the office. The KPC650 not only provides the convenience of mobility and Short Message Service (SMS) text messaging capability but also has the ability to offer high-speed access to corporate applications, email, and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
The easy-to-use, dual-band KPC650 card can be installed in minutes and enables Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess customers to quickly connect to the Internet over the company's 3G high-speed network. The KPC650 from Verizon Wireless includes a built-in dual band diversity antenna to enhance performance by maximizing data throughput.
"The addition of the KPC650 card to Verizon Wireless' EV-DO offerings gives road warriors another tool to quickly and easily access their files, email, Internet and more," said Cindy Patterson, vice president of enterprise data for Verizon Wireless. "With our expanding 3G network and the backward capabilities of EV-DO with 1xRTT, Verizon Wireless customers have the assurance of connectivity, whether they're downloading a new sales presentation just before a meeting or using downtime at the airport to remain productive."
"Our adjustable antenna ensures maximum signal strength so Verizon Wireless customers can always take advantage of the very fastest speeds available on their optimized 3G network," said Jim Kelly, executive vice president and chief operations officer at Kyocera Wireless. "Kyocera is known for easy-to-use handsets and an intuitive user interface and we've incorporated that expertise into a PC card with the quickest installation and most simple navigation for ultimate reliability."
With BroadbandAccess from Verizon Wireless, business customers in the field are able to access data quickly and easily, increasing overall productivity by remaining connected to customers, partners and co-workers. The card measures 2.13 in. x 4.84 in. x 0.51 in. and weighs 2.01 ounces.
Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service is $79.99 for monthly access for unlimited use. The KPC650 is $99.99 after $100 mail-in rebate and 2-year customer agreement and is available through Verizon Wireless' Business sales channels and through Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.
