Hutchison 3G Selects Chordiant for Real-Time CRM for 3G Networksdate: August 14, 2001 Hutchison 3G, holder of the UMTS license for the largest block of wireless spectrum in the U.K., today announced that it has selected Chordiant Software, a company in Unifying Customer Relationship Management (CRM) that helps companies manage their relationships with customers, as its supplier for real-time customer interaction management. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but its said to worth between $20 million and $30 million. Chordiant will handle operational CRM functions for Hutchison 3G subscribers across multiple channels. This will allow Hutchison 3G to keep tabs on its 3G consumers such as who they are, what service plan they have and what additional services they might want. The system is expected to be initially implemented in the U.K. and later made available in every country where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests. Hutchison 3G's unified, enterprise-wide CRM approach is expected to strengthen its ability to offer totally personalized services to customers, improving Average Return Per User (ARPU). Colin Tucker, managing director of Hutchison 3G UK, said, "Customer satisfaction is of paramount importance to us. We selected Chordiant as a CRM partner because they can provide us with the best solution to build and maintain strong customer relationships." Hutchison 3G's software architecture will provide a single view of each customer. Within that architecture Chordiant will be instrumental in providing customer-focused information and managing customer interactions. This will enable Hutchison 3G to deliver relevant business services tailored to any subscriber across any medium.
