Toei Co to Broadcast Movies to FOMA Usersdate: August 16, 2001 Japanese movie companies are now going to take down the barrier and let users enjoy pictures outside movie theatres onto 3G handsets. Toei confirmed it is going to distribute some of its contents to high-speed data FOMA users. Toei's contents are to be delivered to mobile handsets at speed of 384kbps. The contents will be some TV programs for children that use special effects. Toei will edit the existing TV programs into a five-minute story to suit mobile users. This service will start in October, if FOMA is fully implemented commercially that month and the service will cost around 300 yen per month. Specific titles of those special-effects programs are yet to be announced. A Toei executive told that they have been negotiating copyrights and other issues with each party concerned and, accordingly, those titles will be made public around September. Toei has produced various special effects such as the top rated "Kamen Rider Series" as well as the "Goranger."
