Japan to invest $10m in 4G research

Japan's telecommunication ministry will request a US$10 million budget for R&D of 4G mobile telecommunication technology in the fiscal 2002 government budget, the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun reported Tuesday.

Takayuki Ishida, an officer at the mobile communication sector of the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications , declined to confirm the accuracy of the report.
