UMTS Forum announces first Services and Applications Theatredate: August 23, 2001 - source: UMTS Forum A unique new industry event hosted by The UMTS Forum in Barcelona on October 16 this year will showcase the breadth of services and applications being developed for UMTS/3G mobile networks. Highlighting the most innovative developers of 3G services and applications worldwide, the first ever UMTS Forum Services and Applications Theatre will be attended by a select, high-level audience of operators, suppliers and wireless ISP's as well as financiers from the media and telecoms industries. In a day of presentations from "best of breed" developers of services and applications for business and consumer markets, attendees will be able to learn through interactive presentations how the 3G environment is enabling powerful new business opportunities for the entire mobile industry. Taking place at The Intercontinental Hotel, Barcelona, Spain on 16 October 2001, the event will be mediated by Bloomberg Television presenter Sally Bundock. The invited audience will have the opportunity to vote for the service or application they consider to represent the most exciting demonstration of the full potential of 3G networks. Full results of the Theatre will be delivered into the opening day of the UMTS 2001 Congress, also taking place in Barcelona (October 17-19).
