BT Wireless selects Cookie content for World's first 3G portaldate: August 29, 2001 Set to launch in late summer 2001 BT through its subsidiary Manx Telecom started development of the platform on the Isle of Man in April 1999. The project will now lead the world in the rollout and delivery of UMTS the broad base upon which the future of wireless technology will be developed. The trial will deliver pictures, graphics, music and video communications and other innovative information services as well as voice and data provided through flexible, high-capacity mobile communications. In 1998 Fortune Cookie was selected by BT Interactive to produce content for their North London ADSL trials, the success of which led to the nationwide rollout of the service. "The shift in behaviour that we saw from users who had, up until that point only experienced a dial-up connectivity was significant" said Fortune Cookie's Justin Cooke. In early 2001 Fortune Cookie became the first UK agency to develop content for the phenomenally successful Japanese i-mode platform which shares common features with 3G. 3G technology will have a significant impact on our everyday lives because it combines two incredibly powerful media; the mobile phone and the web. The trial will provide Fortune Cookie with vital expertise that will place the company firmly ahead of the pack in offering a stress-free 3G experience. Fortune Cookie's participation in the trial will give them a valuable insight into how customer behaviour will differ in a 3G environment. This insight will allow Fortune Cookie to design and develop applications that more precisely match user needs. http:www.fortunecookie.com
