Wiscom Technologies Announces Memorandum of Understanding With ZTE Corporationdate: August 29, 2001 Wiscom Technologies, Inc., a developer of 3G WCDMA mobile communication technologies with a focus on baseband chipset (ASIC) for mobile terminals, announced today it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ZTE Corporation, a leading telecommunication equipment vendor and handset manufacturer in China. Under the agreement, ZTE has chosen Wiscom’s WCDMA baseband solutions to develop its mobile terminals and conduct interoperability tests and field trials. Wiscom will also support ZTE in developing methodologies and software to improve final product manufacturing and testing. "In partnering with ZTE, a major telecom player in the Chinese market and an important potential customer, Wiscom has taken a significant step in our continued penetration of the Chinese mobile market," said Wiscom's chief executive officer, Dennis Chen. "Not only does this MOU underscore Wiscom’s ability to execute our strategic plan, but it also shows that Wiscom is continuously gaining acceptance from our customer base. Through our relationship with leading telecom players such as ZTE, Wiscom is solidly positioned to effectively compete in the marketplace."
