KDDI and DoCoMo 3G subscribers went up

KDDI said on Wednesday that it added 493,300 third-generation cellphone subscribers in July, bringing the total number of 3G subscribers to 1.645 million since the launch of its au 3G "CDMA2000 1x" service April 1.

NTT DoCoMo said Wednesday it added 290,000 cellphone subscribers in July, lifting its overall subscriber base to 41.76 million.

DoCoMo also said it added 12,900 3G cellphone subscribers in July, bringing the total number to 127,400. It launched its 3G "FOMA" service on October 1.
