A-Logics to launch mass production of WCDMA chipsdate: August 8, 2002 A-Logics, a firm specializing in digital versatile recorders and wireless communications system on chips, announced that it will launch volume production of a modem chip for asynchronous (also called WCDMA) IMT2000 base stations. The new release (AWBS-1100) has 24 downstream and 16 upstream channels and is capable of transmitting data at 2Mbps speeds. It also successfully integrates software features of the chip into a hardware unit, boosting the operating speed by more than 20 percent compared to the prior model (AWBS-1000). According to the company, its technology used for the modem chip not only passed benchmarking tests at major client sites, but also meet the '3GPP WCDMA Release 1999' standards.
