GSM/GPRS/3G EDGE Transceiver Shipments Decline 7% Y/Y in 2Q02

According to Dell'Oro Group, shipments of GSM/GPRS/3G EDGE infrastructure
transceivers (or radios) declined 7% Y/Y to 359 thousand units in
2Q02.
"Although revenues for GSM/GPRS/3G EDGE infrastructure equipment
declined in excess of 20% Y/Y, transceiver unit shipments declined
only 7%, reflecting an 18% decline in average selling prices", says
Greg Collins, a Director at Dell'Oro Group. Moreover, the number
of transceivers per macro Base Transceiver Station (BTS) has been
level at just over six for the last few quarters.
