No aggressive investment in EV-DV, says LG Telecom

August 1, 2004 - source: Telecoms Korea

LG Telecom publicized its conservative investment policy for CDMA2000 1x EV-DV.

During the conference call on the 2nd quarter business performance on Friday, the company announced it would launch EV-DV revision C by the end of this year to fulfill the promise with the government. But, the investment will be modest as long as the number of subscribers remains low.

EV-DV revision C supports 144Kbps on the reverse link while revision D 1.2 Mbps. Revision D is expected to be commercially available in 2006 at the earliest.

Meanwhile, LG Telecom is reportedly to adopt VIA chipset for its initial EV-DV service.
