Football highlights gets early showing on 3

August 9, 2004

From the first day of the new season, 3 customers will be able to watch highlights of the goals in Barclays Premiership matches before they are shown on Match of the Day.

Every Saturday, customers on 3's video mobile network will be able to download video highlights of the best of the action from every Barclays Premiership match at 5:15pm. On all other match days, in both the Barclays Premiership and UEFA Champions League, highlights will be available just five minutes after the final whistle.

3's new video highlights package will transform Saturdays for the football fan - who will no longer need to wait hours after the game before seeing the goals. So with the exception of games that are broadcast live, footage from Barclays Premiership matches will be shown first on 3.

Fiercely disputed penalties, contentious goal-line clearances and dubious sending-offs can now be debated by fans in the pub or on their way home after the match, with video evidence at their fingertips.

Gareth Jones, Chief Operating Officer at 3, comments "We are delighted that our customers won't have to wait until late on Saturday night to see the goals on TV. Instead, they'll be able to see the goals on their video mobiles at 5.15pm."

3 customers can get unlimited access to match highlights for just £5 per month with the 3 Sports Add-on. Alternatively, customers can download individual game highlights at a cost of 50p per game.

The Sports Add-on includes Barclays Premiership and UEFA Champions League action and also features the latest video news from the world's top sporting events.
