Aeroflex supplies location-based services test system

August 10, 2004

Aeroflex Incorporated announced that Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions (RIWS), an Aeroflex company, will be supplying PCTEST Engineering Laboratory, Columbia, MD with a complete CDMA 1xEvDO mobile phone signaling conformance and location-based services test solution required for CTIA Certification. The addition of the new test system will significantly enhance PCTEST's CDMA test capabilities to support the wireless industry. The addition of the Aeroflex system enables PCTEST to be the first CTIA Authorized Test Laboratory (CATL) to test the additional requirements of the newly released CTIA CDMA Certification Program (Rev4.x). In addition, PCTEST can now perform testing according to the CCF and CDG83 test plans. The 1xEvDO test system will provide testing for the new CTIA cdma2000 test requirements including:

-- cdma2000 Position Location Minimum Performance Tests
-- cdma2000 Signaling Conformance Tests
-- cdma2000 Wireless IP Signaling Conformance Tests
-- cdma2000 1x-EvDO Signaling Conformance Tests
-- cdma2000 1x-EvDO Wireless IP Signaling Conformance Tests
--cdma2000 Position Location Signaling Conformance Tests

The 1xEvDO Air Interface Monitor and Emulator (AIME) Conformance Test System provides testing for the following industry standards: IS-898 cdma2000 signaling conformance, IS-919 EvDO signaling conformance, cdma2000 and EvDO IS-918 wireless internet protocol (IP) signaling conformance, and IS-916 location-based services testing.

"We chose the Aeroflex protocol test system because it offered capabilities that no other vendor could offer for 1xEvDO testing. Now PCTEST can offer comprehensive CDMA testing to our customers," said Andrea Zaworski, CATL/SAR/EMC Manager, PCTEST. "The purchase of this test system helps us further our reputation as the 'complete wireless lab.' PCTEST is committed to expanding our test coverage for CDMA mobile phones and all future test cases required for CTIA Certification."

Chris Heisig, Business Manager for the CDMA Protocol Conformance Product Line said, "Aeroflex is pleased to complete this installation because PCTEST is an established leader and has set the standard for wireless testing for over 15 years. This installation increases our presence and exposure within North America."
