SlipStream Data launches acceleration and optimization technology

August 7, 2005

SlipStream Data announced the release of enhancements to the SlipStream Acceleration and Optimization Engine, developed to meet the unique needs of wireless carriers.

SlipStream uses patented acceleration, data compression and network optimization to enable carriers to deliver on the promise of fast and reliable Internet access while increasing service capacity and reducing infrastructure investments. The SlipStream Acceleration and Optimization Engine is the core technology behind all of the Company's product offerings, including SlipStream SP.

SlipStream's easy-to-deploy technology utilizes a proprietary compression algorithm, which results in up to 98% reduction in bandwidth requirements, enabling carriers to support more users and prolong the life of their existing infrastructure. The SlipStream solution seamlessly integrates into any network, and uses adaptive data compression and network optimization to streamline text, graphics, Flash and web-based emails, including attachments.

"SlipStream offers the next generation of acceleration and optimization technology, which will help carriers address the lower than expected data penetration and traffic levels that have affected their revenue goals," said Ron Neumann, president of SlipStream Data. "While previously deployed solutions resulted in complexities in network deployment and unacceptable performance levels, the SlipStream model integrates seamlessly into a carrier's network and delivers consistently fast and reliable service. For carriers, this translates into an increase in data traffic, average revenue per user and overall profitability."

The SlipStream solution for wireless carriers is fully compatible with CDMA 1X and EVDO, GSM/GPRS (with or without EDGE) and iDEN. SlipStream uses numerous techniques to address problems common in wireless environments, including session persistence and wireless channel loss recognition, which result in consistent, unparalleled performance. The unique design of the SlipStream model also guarantees compatibility with 3G and 4G wireless networks.

The SlipStream Engine operates at the application layer instead of the network level, facilitating the use of adaptive, application-specific compression, image compression and caching techniques not possible with previous generation solutions. This flexibility allows SlipStream to extend the functionality of the Engine to create industry-specific solutions that meet the needs of multiple markets. This includes SlipStream SP, which addresses ISPs' (Internet Service Providers) need to offer a cost-effective value-added service that reduces churn, as well as deployments that meet the needs of wireless carriers, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Enterprises and other technology or licensee partners.
