3 Ireland and NEC announced the introduction of one of Europe's smallest and lightest 3G handsets to customers of 3 Ireland. NEC's 338 handset weighs just 113g and measures 93.8x47.1x23.3mm. The compact silver and black clamshell handset is available now, and allows users to access the full range of 3's services, including live person-to person video calls, multimedia downloads and video messaging. Memories can be captured as video or photography using the rotating camera, which incorporates a 2x digital zoom feature. Downloading and streaming content is simple and Irish customers can browse exclusive and regularly updated content and other 3 services, much of which is included in 3's prices plans at no extra cost. This includes video and text news bulletins, film clips and comedy sketches, Barclays Premiership and Champions League highlights. Regional information can also be accessed, including GAA news, the latest match scores from Setanta Sports and coming later this month, RTE video news. 3's customers can also access premium content on the 338, such as full-length music videos and the latest games. The handset's inbuilt JAVA technology and dual mode (2.5G and 3G) access also ensures fast 'always on' connectivity. With the latest games and applications at their fingertips, users will never get bored again whilst on the move. The handset also features an MP3 player, which combined with the 'Play All List' capability, allows continuous playback of selected video content and MP3 files, images. To make the handset even more melodic, users can also set one of the 40-channel polyphonic ringtones or download one of more than 2000 available on the 3 portal, as an incoming call alert.
