Hutchison 3G signs national roaming agreement with BT Cellnetdate: December 10, 2001 Hutchison 3G UK, holder of the UMTS licence for the largest block of spectrum in the UK, today announced it has signed an agreement with BT Cellnet to provide the establishment and operation of 2G national voice and data roaming. The value of agreement was not disclosed. The agreement means that Hutchison 3G will have 99% national population coverage for voice and SMS services. The agreement also includes provision to roam onto BT Cellnet's national GPRS service, using dual-mode (2G/3G) third-generation devices. Colin Tucker, Managing Director of Hutchison 3G commented "This agreement is very important to delivering our service in the second half of next year. Our customers are now assured access to the services they expect, as well as those that we will offer through our third-generation capability. BT Cellnet satisfied all the criteria that Hutchison 3G set out for the selection of a national roaming partner."
