World's First 3G Wireless Search Enginedate: December 14, 2001 Calaba's pioneering wireless directory and search service has been chosen by mmO2 subsidiary Manx Telecom as the search engine for Europe's first commercial 3G network, which was switched on this week. Following an exhaustive selection process, Calaba's pioneering directory and search service was chosen as the first search service for 3G content. The graphics-rich, full-colour 3G search service hosted by Calaba allows users of Europe's first commercial 3G network on the Isle of Man to search for content within the 3G network, or from the entire world of mobile information. Users can also browse a wireless directory, finding sites relevant to their preferred combination of subject, language and location. Search and directory services are widely predicted to play a crucially important role spurring the uptake of wireless data services for second-generation and third-generation networks. Operators are increasingly turning to innovative information discovery tools to help users find content relevant to their lifestyle, location, situation, and preference. Calaba's multi-dimensional architecture uniquely allows all sites to be classified so that they can be found by users to whom they are most relevant, with minimum clicks. Commenting on the launch of Europe's first commercial 3G service by mmO2, Calaba CEO Tim Granger said "Calaba is delighted to have been chosen as the first 3G wireless search provider. This underscores Calaba's leading-edge information-discovery skills, and we are delighted that mmO2 has recognised our commitment to remaining at the forefront of mobile services/solutions for consumers and enterprises."
