C&W provides first 3G-compliant GRX service to J-Phone
December 13, 2002
Cable & Wireless IDC today announced that on December 20 it would
provide the first 3G-compliant Global Roaming Exchange (GRX) service
available in Japan to J-Phone. J-Phone will use this service to
provide "Packet Data Roaming Service", one of the services of its
international 3GPP standard-based Vodafone Global Standard service
announced on December 3.
Cable & Wireless IDC's GRX service enables mobile operators to
provide subscribers with seamless international data roaming by
utilising Cable & Wireless' GRX network connecting more than 70
countries around the world for interconnection of domestic and international
mobile networks.
J-Phone commented, "Cable & Wireless' GRX service will enable J-Phone
to offer its customers global roaming data services. J-Phone is
Japan's leading mobile operator in offering global services to its
customers. Working with Cable & Wireless will mean that our customers
will be able to access their usual data services when abroad in
the future."
