Spirent launches integrated test solution for high speed wireless terminals
December 10, 2003
Spirent Communications announced the availability of the EV-DO ATS Automatic
Test System. EV-DO ATS addresses a key industry need by providing an integrated
test platform for cutting edge CDMA mobile devices that support 1xEV-DO
high-speed packet data technology.
“EV-DO ATS represents Spirent’s commitment to stay at the forefront of
wireless testing,” states Rob VanBrunt, vice president of wireless product
marketing for Spirent Communications. “This system automates testing of
new-to-market wireless high-speed data devices. With EV-DO ATS, the parametric
performance of these devices will be thoroughly tested and in customers’
hands sooner and with increased performance.”
With the introduction of higher-order transmission schemes, such as those
used in EV-DO, it is critical to verify the receiver and transmitter performance
of the high-speed devices used on these networks. The EV-DO ATS system
carries out this verification using a platform that is more fully integrated
and significantly easier to use than any available alternative. EV-DO
ATS leverages Spirent’s industry-leading CDMA2000 Automatic Test System
(C2K-ATS) and is comprised of proven Spirent instruments, as well as Spirent’s
TestDrive EV-DO test executive software.
TestDrive automates test execution to enable a large number of test cases
to be run in a relatively short time, thus reducing the required level
of valuable engineering resource dedicated to test strategy execution
and accelerating time to market for new mobile devices. The TestDrive
software includes pre-defined suites to automate testing to key industry
standards such as TIA-866 (AT-MPS) requirements. Its powerful integrated
data collection and results reporting simplify sharing of test data within
and between organizations.
