Anritsu's Radio Communication analyser first to offer complete evaluation
of 2G to 3G mobile telephone terminals
December 11, 2003
Anritsu Corporation has announced a significant upgrade to its innovative
MT8820A Radio Communication analyser. In response to the market demand
for multi-standard measurement solutions, Anritsu has developed the MT8820A
to comprise of one piece of hardware and five software applications, enabling
the complete evaluation of mobile telephone terminals based on all major
2G to 3G communication standards. The MT8820's single unit design enables
cost-efficient development and manufacturing of mobile telephones and
terminals - providing complex signalling as well as special test modes
and occupies only one-third of the installation space that a conventional
test system requires.
The MT8820A, one box solution for complete call-connection test and high
speed RF transmission/reception characteristic measurement of mobile terminals,
can now handle W-CDMA, CDMA2000, 1xEV-DO, GSM, GPRS, E-GPRS, PHS and PDC.
As mobile telephone terminals evolve, voice and video data transmission
capabilities will continue to improve. Each software standard includes
Packet Data and Videophone testing where available and also provides higher
data rate testing. CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (the expanded version of the CDMA2000
1x 3G communication standard) boasts high-speed (max. 2.4 Mbps) data transfer,
which makes it a high priority among mobile telephone communication vendors
and mobile terminal manufacturers focused on data communication. E-GPRS,
a standard that is currently being introduced in many parts of Europe
and the rest of the world, has now been included to provide complete coverage
for commercial data transmission standards being introduced globally.
With the development of the MT8820A, Anritsu is moving communication
standards ahead, toward solutions requiring less investment in equipment,
offering higher measuring efficiency, and expanding the mobile terminal
market.
