PTS reject 3G delays in Sweden
December 7, 2004
The Swedish telecom regulator, PTS, said Tuesday it rejected a proposal that would allow mobile phone operators to delay the build out of 3G networks, the Dow Jones Newswire reported.
The PTS argued that an extension of the timetable wasn't needed and the case put forward by operators wasn't strong enough.
However, the regulator will allow operators to use a lower signalling strength, resulting in a reduction of radio base stations that operators need to build.
The license conditions will be changed as a result of the revised signalling strength. Operators have until December. 17 to report how they are complying with the new license conditions.
