Dilithium Networks reduces 3G video call set-up time
December 14, 2004
Dilithium Networks announced that it has successfully demonstrated its new AnswerFast Plus technology, over live 3G networks in the UK and Australia. With AnswerFast Plus, Dilithium Networks successfully demonstrated that video calls can be set up in less than 1 second, resulting in call setup times that are comparable to those of voice calls. Present 3G terminals typically take 6-10 seconds to completely establish the audio and video channels.
As part of the testing, Dilithium Networks conducted successful interoperability tests with 3G handsets that are available in the market today.
"The reaction of the operators was overwhelmingly positive." said Dr. Marwan Jabri, CTO and co-founder of Dilithium Networks. "This achievement results in a significantly enhanced user experience and will facilitate the uptake of 3G video telephony services." AnswerFast Plus has already been licensed by Asian and European handset and chipset suppliers. Dilithium Networks is presently working on the standardization of the technology through the ITU-T and other standard bodies.
