Videophone calls between FOMA and Australia

December 14, 2004

NTT DoCoMo announced that the Japanese customers of its 3G FOMA-based WORLD CALL service will be able to exchange videophone calls with users of compatible 3G / W-CDMA services in Australia offered by Hutchison 3G Australia beginning December 21, 2004.

Users will simply dial 009130-010-country code and the local mobile number to place a videophone call. The call between Japan and Singapore or Australia will cost 54 yen per 10 seconds (324 yen per minute).

FOMA customers in Japan can already place videophone calls to customers of DoCoMo's partner companies in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore.

DoCoMo also announced that it has partnered with Singapore's StarHub in videophone services, enabling FOMA users to exchange videophone calls with StarHub customers in addition to SingTel users in Singapore.
