Ericsson help VIBO Telecom deploy optical metro network

December 4, 2005

Ericsson has been selected by 3G operator VIBO Telecom for the deployment of an AXX optical metro network across Taiwan.

Under the contract, Ericsson is supplying its AXX 9300 METRO solution to VIBO, for the build-out of a new metro network across Taiwan. The network is expected to meet VIBO's need for enhanced coverage and capacity, providing a cost-efficient, future-proof multi-service transport platform for the delivery of advanced 3G services and IP traffic.

The implementation of the project has started. The new network is scheduled to be launched by the end of this year, in conjunction with the 3G services rollout of VIBO.

"We are confident that Ericsson's future-proof solution and cutting-edge technology will allow us to meet our goal of rolling out innovative and user-friendly 3G services to the market, and ensure us a competitive advantage into the future," said David Wang, CEO of VIBO Telecom.

"With our leading AXX product portfolio, we not only position our customer to address its current need for capacity, reliability and cost-efficiency, but also support its continued growth into the future," says Sivert Bergman, Vice President and General Manager of Business Unit Transmission and Transport, Ericsson.
