December 20, 2005

Research and Markets has announced the addition of Mobile Handset Market - Outlook - 2005 - 2012, Sweden to their offering.

The mobile communications market is expanding substantially. As was the case in past the growth in this segment depends heavily on new innovations in technology and continuous evolution of business models. This segment, once again is gearing up for unprecedented growth due to advancement in mobile data technology, falling price points and success of initial 3G roll out.

Global trend looks very positive, particularly with the eventual take off of 3G networks in Europe and in North America following the lead taken by Japan and Korea. South East Sweden still remains amongst most advance markets, with activities seen in Beyond 3G technology development.

The migration from 2G to 3G and further beyond 3G is likely to be accompanied by dramatic changes in the industry value chain, with emerging wireless network technologies like WiMAX, WiFi and MBWA, the mobile handset community increasingly shifting its focus from voice to data services support. These new trends are changing the industry landscape and creating many new and exciting investment opportunities in existing as well as unexplored market segments.

Mobile Communications is a mature industry that has been globally available for some time. Growth of subscribers, traffic, and most importantly revenues, is by no means automatic. Entry costs for new users and tariffs must be continuously reduced to increase subscriber numbers and minutes of use. To stay ahead, leading players need to differentiate their products by means of new technologies and innovations like device supporting multiple technologies.

Standards, interoperability, new business models, alliances and partnerships also need to be considered throughout the technology value chain, to ensure that technology diversity does not result in unwanted market fragmentation.
