BT keen to bid for Singapore's 3G licence through StarHub

date: 16th February 2001, source by: channelnewsasia.com

British Telecom (BT) plans to bid for a third-generation (3G) telephone licence in Singapore through StarHub in which it holds an 18 percent equity stake.

BT spokesman Harry James also said a report that the company planned to bid for a 3G licence separately from Singapore telecoms carrier StarHub was inaccurate.

The British telecoms giant submitted its comments to Singapore's Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) on the forthcoming 3G auction in April, sparking talk that BT is interested in bidding for a 3G licence.

Five telecommunications companies have submitted their recommendations to the IDA regarding the auction guidelines.
