IPWireless Unveils Groundbreaking Broadband Wireless Technology of up to 6Mbps

date: 20th February 2001, source by: sloanepr.com

IPWireless today unveiled its groundbreaking fixed and portable wireless technology solution designed to provide true high-speed portable access (up to 6 Mbps) to the Internet. Today's announcement marks the rollout of the IPWireless "total network solution" technology in Greensboro, NC, representing the first-ever beta test of very high-speed, customer "plug and play," broadband wireless Internet access service.

IPWireless' technology is designed in compliance with worldwide broadband TDD 3G UMTS standards yet represents a significant advance over all other forms of wireless. This very high-speed next-generation broadband technology, introduced for the first time by IPWireless, is optimized for both fixed and portable Internet access. IPWireless' technology currently operates in the 2.5 - 2.7 GHz wireless spectrum in the U.S. and can also be applied to international spectrum in the IMT 2000 band (2 GHz) as required. The technology offers superior data transmission speeds (up to 6 Mbps), non line-of-sight and in-building penetration, portability, customer "plug-and-play," ubiquity of coverage, fast deployability, carrier-grade reliability, and very high spectrum efficiency.

With IPWireless' new technology, users can experience at lightning speed the best multimedia applications the Internet can offer. Untethered from phone lines or cable, this broadband technology enables portable fixed access to the Internet, so that whether at a PC in the home or on-the-go with a laptop computer, users are always connected. IPWireless brings to market a superior wireless solution that delivers - today - the promise of broadband Internet access "anytime, anywhere."
