Russian authorities OK 3G trial zones
date: 24th February 2001, source by:
Global Wireless
The Russian Agency for Radio Frequencies (GKRCh) decided to allow
the creation of 3G trial zones in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
GKRCh passed the decision after the Russian 3G Association submitted
its research on 3G trial network creation. The applications to join the
project have been filed by Moscow-based Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and BeeLine,
as well as St.Petersburg-based North-Western GSM carriers.
GKRCh provided 1927.5-1942.5 MHz, 1962.5-1967.5 MHz, 2015-2025 MHz, 2117.5-2132.5
MHz and 2152.5-2157.5 MHz bands for the trial networks.
GKRCh said it would consider the results of the trials in the third quarter
of 2001 in order to pass the final decision on 3G network construction
in Russia.
