Nokia wins Taiwan contract to test 3G mobile phone technology

date: 27th February 2001, source by: mformobile.com

Nokia Corp said it has won a contract from Taiwan's state-owned telecoms development group Chunghwa Telecom Labs to conduct trials for third generation mobile telephone services in the country.

Based on the trial results, the Taiwanese group will then build its testbed for the new services based on Nokia's 3G technology as a precursor to introducing advanced mobile services and mobile internet access in Taiwan, Nokia said.

The trial is expected to run from the beginning of the second quarter in Northern Taiwan.

No financial details were disclosed.
