Powerwave Technologies and Nokia Networks Announce Purchase Agreement for 3G Amplifiers

Powerwave Technologies Inc. and Nokia Networks today announced that they have entered into a two-year purchasing agreement under which Powerwave will supply multi-carrier RF power amplifiers (MCPA) for use in Nokia's 3rd generation (3G) WCDMA wireless base stations.

Nokia Networks is a world-leading supplier of wireless telecommunications products and a global leader in telecommunications technology, with proven total systems capability, unsurpassed network testing and integration facilities.

"Powerwave is looking forward to deploying this new advancement in power amplifiers with Nokia's 3G wireless network equipment," stated Bruce C. Edwards, president and chief executive officer of Powerwave Technologies. "Powerwave has worked with Nokia on power amplifier developments in the past and we look to continue to expand our partnership in the future."

"Nokia's 3rd generation WCDMA Ultrasite base station family will provide the industries' fastest network roll-out capability for operators, using Nokia's advanced 3G technology design," stated Eero Vallstrom, vice president, WCDMA RAN Business Programs.
