Enfora Selects Sasken Communication's GSM/GPRS Protocol Stack For Its GPRS Enabler-G Data Solution

date: February 8, 2002

Enfora, Inc., a leader in providing wireless data solutions, today announced it would integrate Sasken's GSM/GPRS Protocol Stack solution in Enfora's (2.5G) GPRS OEM high-speed wireless modem, the Enfora Enabler-G(TM). The company will showcase its GPRS products at the 3GSM World Congress (Cannes, France) February 19-22.

Enfora chose the Sasken GPRS Protocol Stack because it provides the flexibility and performance necessary to quickly develop a wide range of wireless data devices. Additionally, Sasken's extensive range of wireless protocol stacks covering UMTS, GPRS, Multimode, EGPRS and 802.11, provide Enfora a clear path towards delivering 3G capabilities in the future.

Enfora is dedicated to provide its customers the most up to date and innovative technology. Selecting Sasken's GPRS Protocol Stack, which has been tested to interoperate with various leading network vendors and operators in the world, is part of Enfora's GPRS strategy to provide our customers a high performance and flexible solution required for next generation wireless applications.

As wireless data bandwidth increases to third generation (3G) communications, Enfora's relationship with Sasken provides an easy transition to Enfora's future wireless data products. Enfora's GPRS product offerings will operate on Windows 95/98/XP/2000/NT and Pocket PC 2002/CE or Palm platforms.

"We are excited about this relationship with Sasken," said Jeff Newman, Vice President of Business Development at Enfora, Inc. "As Enfora moves forward with GPRS and 3G wireless technologies, Sasken will be a strategic partner in Enfora's success to provide the best possible solution to our customers. This partnership is a strategic fit allowing us the ability to offer a range of wireless data options, truly enabling information anywhere, anytime."

"Enfora provides a GPRS solution unique to the wireless world and Sasken is excited to be a partner for Enfora's current and future 3G wireless products," said Rajiv C. Mody, Chairman and CEO of Sasken. "Sasken strategy is to become a key player in the design of complete stack solutions. Enfora coupled with Sasken's GPRS protocol stack allows us to address key GPRS markets."

Enfora's 2.5G modems can deliver information to laptop computers, PDA's and other mobile computing devices at rates up to four times higher than current CDPD wireless modems. In addition to significantly faster access to e-mail, mission-critical files and the Internet, this integrated solution leverages the GSM backbone to provide users with more complete coverage. Enfora's GPRS Enabler-G(TM) modems are scheduled for shipping in the first quarter of 2002.
