DiGi yet to decide on 3G strategydate: February 9, 2002 DiGi.com are still thinking about whether to go alone or be part of a consortium in bidding for 3G mobile licenses. "We have until May to decide. For now, we will continue to build market share and grow the company. We, Telenor, are in Asia for the long term and because of that we are looking for opportunities, but I cannot be more specific than that," said Sigve Brekka, director of Telenor. The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission will bring out the applicant's information package at the end of the month. There will be three spectrum available in July and the roll out of services is expected by the end of 2003 or early 2004. Brekka said Telenor are very happy with its investment in DiGi and has no plan to acquire stakes in other companies or team up with others. Telenor has been extensively involved in the rollout of 3G in Europe. Even though 3G has been launch in Norway, there are no services available because there are no handsets available. Telenor are also involved in Austria and Portugal.
