J-Phone says 3G by June
date: February 11, 2002
J-Phone Co Ltd, one of Japan's 3G operators, said its roll out of 3G
mobile services was on schedule and aim to provide national coverage by
the end of 2004.
It hopes to launch 3G services on June 30 and expand services to major
cities by October.
It is reckoned that by 2004, their networks will cover 90 percent or
more of the population.
The mobile phone market in Japan is showing signs of saturation and fears
that fewer customers than expected will sign up for 3G services.
