AirPrime Expands Product Line with New Family of Wireless PC Cards for Mobile Computers

date: February 26, 2002

AirPrime, a provider of CDMA wireless access solutions for the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) market, announced that the company has expanded its product line to include a family of CDMA wireless PC cards. Using the CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO third generation (3G) wireless standards, AirPrime's wireless PC cards provide high-speed, wide-area wireless connectivity for mobile computers.

AirPrime's family of PC cards, which includes the PC3200 and PC5200 series, is well positioned to complement operators' planned rollouts of 3G wireless networks worldwide. The PC3200 series supports CDMA2000 1X for fast packet data throughput and both forward- and reverse-link data rates of up to 153.6 kbps, while the PC5200 series of PC cards for 1xEV-DO supports maximum data speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps. Both series of PC cards can provide mobile professionals always-on connectivity to their corporate network, the Internet and email from any location within the coverage of CDMA wireless networks.

"Our proven track record in developing an array of 3G CDMA products, coupled with our willingness and ability to provide pure OEM solutions, makes us an ideal partner for wireless network operators and mobile computing manufacturers throughout the world," said Anthony Gioeli, president of AirPrime, Inc. "The simultaneous launch of CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO PC cards strengthens AirPrime's leadership position in CDMA wireless access products."

The PC3200 and PC5200 series are designed as standard Type II PCMCIA cards and are compatible with popular Microsoft operating systems. Both PC Card series support global frequency bands at 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz. An innovative antenna design maximizes network coverage, data transfer speed and battery life of the notebook computer. AirPrime will begin providing the PC3200 and PC5200 series PC cards to customers in early Q2 2002.

The addition of the CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO PC cards bolsters AirPrime's comprehensive suite of high-speed CDMA wireless data access solutions, including the family of AirPrime Helium 1x embedded modules and the Springboard module adapter for Handspring Visor handheld computers.
