Anritsu Corporation and 7 layers AG announce 3G collaborationdate: February 28, 2002 Anritsu Corporation and 7 layers AG in Germany have announced that they will collaborate in the area of RF conformance testing for 3GPP W-CDMA. 7 layers will develop a suite of tools to work with the Anritsu ME7873A W-CDMA test system, which will simplify and speed up the testing of 3G User Equipment. The ME7873A test system is designed to automatically test transmitter characteristics, receiver characteristics and performance characteristics according to 3GPP TS 34.121 Chapters 5, 6 and 7 respectively. The system is targeted at R&D and conformance testing applications and is complementary to the recently introduced ME7852A Protocol Test System. These two systems combined together with other planned enhancements form the basis of a full conformance test system. The tools from 7 layers are components of its newly established InterLab system. InterLab gives everybody involved in the test project continuous access to all essential data and information necessary for professional testing and controls the complete test project from creation of the test plan to the actual testing to automatic test report generation. The test plan takes into account world wide qualification as well as R&TTE UMTS requirements. In addition, 7 layers will independently verify the RF performance of the test system and its test cases against the 3GPP core and test specifications at its laboratory in Ratingen Germany. 7 layers has already successfully done this for other mobile standards, including GSM, HSCSD, GPRS and Bluetooth, and is now providing the same services for 3G. “This collaboration agreement further demonstrates and strengthens Anritsu’s commitment to be a leader in 3G testing,” said Steve Turner, European strategic marketing manager at Anritsu.
