Sprint Solidifies Agreement with ActivePhoto for Support of Wireless Digital Imaging Over Sprint's 3G Networkdate: February 28, 2002 Sprint announced an agreement with ActivePhoto, the technology provider of wireless imaging solutions for businesses, to support future wireless imaging services over Sprint's 3G network. These services will be an extension of the product suite known as the Sprint PCS Clear Wireless Workplace. Sprint's Third-Generation network will enable data services at peak speeds of up to 144kbps and average speeds of 50 to 70kbps this year, with speeds of up to 2 to 5 mbps expected within two years. The result is expected to be a network that will dramatically enrich the whole wireless experience and provide capabilities that will allow users to conveniently capture and send photos instantly with wireless-enabled digital cameras. At launch, the new service will be designed to allow business customers to take pictures, label them with the necessary voice or text data, and immediately send the information, via the Sprint Third-Generation Network, to a Sprint web site hosted by ActivePhoto. The Web site will be equipped with enhanced administrative tools enabling customers to organize, manage, view, share, archive and report on their images, data and voice files. Sprint demonstrated live 3G digital imaging at the games in Salt Lake City using its live Third-Generation Network in combination with the Ricoh RDC-i700 camera, a Sprint PCS Wireless Connection Card by Novatel Wireless, Inc., and ActivePhoto services. The demonstration was part of the Sprint Third Generation Experience, an educational mobile showcase that debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show, featuring live and simulated 3G applications, devices and services that will be available following the nationwide launch of the Sprint Third Generation Network in mid 2002.
